Fill Light 101

Fill light is one of the easiest things in the world to add to your photos. A piece of white foam core, a white sheet, newspaper, a white/light wall, anything that reflects the light can be used.
In this photo, I used a small dry-erase board that I carry with my photo gear. The board was placed just to the left of the camera and at a slight angle to the pumpkin.
Easy! You can do this too–and it won’t hurt your wallet and you’re still using ambient / natural / available light.
(for those of you who swear you don’t use any thing but “natural light”)
You can modify the intensity of the fill light by moving the card, closer to, or further away, from the subject. These photos are basically straight-out-of-the-camera. No exposure changes between the images. Sharpened just a bit for the WEB.
See the light–use the light!
