Dutch:
Cinematic tactic often used to portray the psychological uneasiness
or tension in the subject being filmed.
A Dutch angle is achieved by tilting the camera off to the side
so that the shot is composed with the horizon at an angle to the bottom of the frame.
Okay, so I am a STILL photographer…
Sometimes we use it to make a shot more interesting
or to hide something….
I love to shoot “Dutch Angle”.

“You’ve come a long way baby!”
Photo: July 1999
Camera: Kodak DC290
My first digital camera.
Crazy price tag of $1000.00
Scared to death to buy it,
but it could sync with an external flash!

When your a “one-woman-band” it’s about
having the guts
the charm
or the chutzpah
to convince three complete strangers to be in a test shot.
They loved it….
And I was ready to shoot when the board of directors sat down.

Client: “Can you set up anywhere?”
Me: “Yes”
Client: “Can you make the background white?”
Me: “How white do you want it?”
Client: ”Great! Oh, and there’s a big window–is that a problem?”
Me: “Probably not.”

Ike roared through town and danced with some trees.
My job was to photograph the damage.
Sometimes you need to add perspective.

Sometimes it just takes a different viewpoint,
a sense of humor,
and fun kids.

The late afternoon summer sun poured through my front door
begging for a photo to capture it’s essence. The perfect items
were there, just waiting. My mother in law’s pastry board,
rolling pin and class juicer, which now live in my home.

Food.
Photography.
Love them both.
Simple bowl, simple carrots, simple light.
